Summer concerts on the lawn, enjoying a cool breeze in a beautiful natural space, teddy bear picnics with the little ones--all of these summer memories will be picture perfect with a wonderful picnic!
Strategies for packing the perfect picnic:
- Know your guests: You do not want to pack bananas for someone who is less than thrilled with their smell. Base your menu on what your guests like, not necessarily on the easiest items to fill your basket.
- Make a list: Being organized will go a long way to ensure you have everything you need!
- Think portable, finger food and less mess: We all have lofty ambitions and would love to make impressive creations to wow our guests. However, food items that are easily portable and even acceptably eaten by finger may be easier.
- Don't forget cleaning items: Napkins are definitely a must. Also, don't forget a bag for refuse and one for dishes. Hand wipes may also be useful.
- Cold packs: Depending on what you bring and how long you will be out, you may want a cold pack or two to keep things cold.
- Entertainment: You can slip in a pack of cards, a Frisbee, jacks or some other small type of game to add a little more fun to your picnic.
